Bristol Blue is a particular shade of blue. Bristol blue glass has been produced in the city since the 18th century. This rich blue glass, used for anything from flower vases to gin bottles, was primarily responsible for the city's industrial success. It is an appropriate colour to paint Bristol taxis because it is an iconic feature of the city's history.

How to check you are in a licensed taxi

Check the ID badge

Anyone operating a licenced vehicle must also be a council-licensed driver. The council issues licenced drivers with two identity badges that include a photo of the driver, an identification number, and an expiry date. Drivers must wear a badge and show another in their vehicle.
